The Nest Cafe.

“Nestled” in a lane off the busy Jadavpur 8B crossing and eponymous bus terminus, one finds the “Nest Cafe”, serving lip smacking burgers and fries (among other things) at an amazingly reasonable price! Drop by during the “Happy hours” to enjoy a nice meal at this cozy place.

We tried :
• Chicken Burger (79/-)
• Drums of heaven (99/-)

The burger was mouth watering but the presentation could have been better as they served mayoneise and sauce in the same container ending up mixing the two. The Happy Hours Wednesday menu made everything cheaper. What should be mentioned is that though the menu says 4 pieces per plate for the Drums of Heaven, they actually served 6 pieces at the same price of 99 ! No taxes were added to the final bill so the meal was extremely pocket friendly.

But they didnt serve water as they do in most cafes. The tissue counter was also empty though a large wad of tissue was dropped at our table when we asked for one. Another small note. The bathroom is a wee bit dirty. So all those cleanliness freaks, look out a bit.
Apart from that, the decoration was fun with reclining chairs for all those hookah-lovers out there. But the food lovers, make sure to find this place on a wednesday to make your meal both appetizing and pocket friendly.

Happy Hour Menu

The Tavern Cafe.

It might be slightly difficult to notice this humble restaurant while walking down the lanes in Lake Gardens, but do drop by if you’re craving continental dishes at a cheap price!

We tried :
● Fresh Lime Soda ( 80 /-)
● Chicken Wings in BBQ Sauce ( 170 /-)
● Chicken Zuppa Pavese Soup ( 130 /-)
● Fish Almoniere served with Bread Rolls ( 270 /-)
● Oreo Cake (which is off the menu)

The first thing which we noticed as the dishes were served were the phenomenal way in which they were plated. The food’s decoration was in fact brilliantly done. However, the fish item wasn’t as appetizing as it looked, however the melt in your mouth Oreo Cake more than made up for it! With the former being bland and too dependent on its sides for the flavour(with an uncalled for bonanza of beans and green peas) the Oreo Cake seemed like a breath of much needed fresh, chocolatey air; which pretty much guatantees you leaving the restaurant satisfied.

The Chicken Wings were moderate at best, bit too dry for our liking. The sauce was pretty good though, with a nice after taste. However, we must mention the pretty decors of the restaurant itself; but an increased emphasis on the soup(which too was bland and lacked flavor) and other items would secure a place in any foodie’s good books!
(PS- Do not forget to click photos on the lovely swing installed outside!)
